I had 25 spam comments in my blog today. That was just too much!

Thanks to Brajeshwar for the tip. I have installed MT-Blacklist and it is working great. It has a huge database of blog spammers. More about this later.

Import that, you will be protected from over 4,000 url fragments. I use to receive over 200+ blog spams recently and now it trickled to about 3-5 which I can manage after installing MTBlacklist.
Or Best switch to Movable Type 3.0 (that is what I am doing soon)
